Kim ist Kreativproduzentin, Regisseurin und Geschäftsführerin der Produktionsfirma Treibsand Film.

Neben der Umsetzung von Filmprojekten mit Treibsand Film, entwickelt und produziert sie auch mittellange Dokumentarfilme für das Medienprojekt Wuppertal im Bildungs- und Aufklärungssektor.

Sie studierte Kamera an der Fachhochschule Dortmund und ist Alumni des Mediengründerzentrums NRW. 2016 erhielt sie vom Kompetenzzentrum für Frauen und Arbeit die Auszeichnung "Frau mit Profil". Ihre Co-produzierte Kurzfilmreihe „Points of view“ tourte durch Programmkinos in NRW und gewann diverse Preise. Ihr produzierter Kurzflm „Bye, Bye Comrade“ (Regie Tianlin Xu) von 2018 wurde mit dem Prädikat „wertvoll“ ausgezeichnet. Der erste über Treibsand Film produzierte Langdokumentarfilm „Coming and Going“ mit ihr in der Rolle als Kreativproduzentin wurde für den First Steps Award 2015 nominiert und gewann 7 Preise auf weltweit internationalen Festivals. 

Es ist Kims Hauptinteresse sich filmisch mit sozialen und überwiegend politischen Themen zu beschäftigen, um Menschen ein Sprachrohr zu geben. Aktuell engagiert sie sich filmpolitisch im Vorstand des Vereins Filmbüro NW. Sie ist Teil des Filmkollektivs Dokomotive, welche eine Plattform für den besonderen Dokumentarfilm schafft.

Das Filmemachen versteht sie als persönlichen Wachstumsprozess über die Auseinandersetzung mit Menschen und Themen: »Ich hatte schon immer den starken Drang, Menschen und ihr Handeln zu verstehen. Das Medium Film bietet mir die Möglichkeit, in verschiedene Perspektiven und mir unbekannte Welten einzutauchen. Damit erfahre ich ein kleines Stück über andere und somit auch über mich selbst.«

Kim is a creative producer, director and managing director of the production company Treibsand Film.

Besides realizing film projects with Treibsand Film, she also develops and produces mid-length documentaries for Medienprojekt Wuppertal in the education and awareness sector.

She studied camera at the University of Applied Sciences Dortmund and is alumna of the Mediengründerzentrum NRW. In 2016, she received the "Woman with Profile" award from the Competence Center for Women and Work. Her co-produced short film series "Points of view" toured program cinemas in NRW and won various awards. Her produced short film "Bye, Bye Comrade" (directed by Tianlin Xu) from 2018 was awarded the rating "valuable". The first feature-length documentary film produced through Treibsand Film, "Coming and Going" with her in the role of creative producer, was nominated for the First Steps Award in 2015 and won 7 awards at international festivals worldwide. 

It is Kim's main interest to deal with social and predominantly political issues cinematically in order to give people a voice. Currently she is involved in film politics on the board of the association Filmbüro NW. She is part of the film collective Dokomotive, which creates a platform for the special documentary film.

 

She sees filmmaking as a process of personal growth through engaging with people and issues: "I have always had a strong urge to understand people and their actions. The medium of film offers me the opportunity to dive into different perspectives and worlds that are unknown to me. In doing so, I learn a little bit about others and thus also about myself."
